A weekend stroll through Mauerpark can only be made more perfect with a great brunch or coffee – and for those dining in and visiting Prenzlauer Berg, Cafe Flo is a must-visit destination.
Cafe Flo was opened by sisters Lea and Rachel in August 2020 on Eberswalder Straße, located on the southern end of the famous Mauerpark. Although it is bustling with energy both from the passersby outside, and groups of brunch of coffee loyalists inside, it is a cozy and calming cafe – complimented by an interior adorned in light wood, natural materials and lots of indoor and hanging plants
Lea and Rachel's hospitality career began in their hometown of Hesse, where as teenagers when they helped out and waited tables in their mother's shop. After moving to Berlin, they aimed to open a venue that was comfortable, cozy and brought people from across the community together.
Their commitment to community extends to the products they use and serve in-store, sourcing many products from local businesses in and around Berlin – including coffee roasted by Field Coffee.
In 2022, Lea and Rachel embarked on a new project with the opening of Cafe Flo's sister venue, Cafe Schröder. Located only a short distance from their first cafe, (30 minutes by foot, or a quick trip on the tram), Cafe Schröder stocks a range of selected, natural wines, locally baked bread from and of course, more coffee beans from Field Coffee.
What we love most about each time you visit Rachel, Lea and the team at Cafe Flo or Cafe Schröder, is that you are welcomed not just as a guest, but as a member of their family. When you stop by, you'll notice groups of friends, or family members sitting together with strollers and dogs, enjoying how this space welcomes and celebrates them.
The team are famous for their 'sandos' (sandwiches), which often change according to seasonality and the inspirations of the chefs. If you're short on time, we recommend trying one of their famous cakes alongside a cup of coffee – but be sure to come back soon to sit down and enjoy the full experience.
