Taktil

What's a great morning coffee without the perfect bread to go with it? Neukölln's Taktil bakery is anything but your ordinary German bakery. When you first walk in, you're welcomed by the aroma of warm sourdough bread, the enticing look of a range of sweet, baked goods and best of all – a wood-fire oven.

Since their doors opened at their location in Neukölln, between Templehofer Feld and S-Bahnhof Neukölln, the Taktil team has dedicated itself to creating exceptional wood-fired bread.  Founded in 2021 by Lennert Dejonghe and Katharina Bonengl, they have aimed to both embrace and experiment with traditional techniques and recipes from across the world.

Their dedication to excellence doesn't just extend to bread – the Taktil team engages with their steady stream of regular customers and visitors from the neighbourhood, taking on feedback to improve their product and ensuring that it is accessible for all.

''We want to run a small, honest wood-fire bakery where we do our best to get the best quality possible,'' say co-founder, Lennert. ''We care a lot about our neighbourhood and know our customers quite well – we try to keep our prices low for them and the wages of our employees high.''

Among their most famous dishes/products is a dark-baked bread, created with a four kilogram (yep, four) mixture of rye and wheat flour. The Taktil team take this wonderful, monstrously large bread and cut it down to size for each order – a sight to behold, and a wonder to eat.

Of course, the flavour doesn't stop at their baked goods. Among the delicious sweets, bread and boutique selections of beers, oils and various goods from across the world, Taktil also serves freshly made Field Coffee in-house. Baked goods and coffee – what more could you want?
