Upon entering Hallesches Haus, the first thing you'll notice is in the incredible space – featuring high ceilings, vaulted archways, a private garden and original brickwork. Housed in the location of an old Berlin post office, Hallesches Haus has converted this beautiful space into a café, store and one-of-a-kind event space.
The spacious and welcoming café offers breakfast, lunch and brunch featuring a health-conscious menu of weekly specials, sandwiches and waffles and draws a diverse crowd of locals and tourists. The store in the front sells an always-changing selection of lamps, pantry items, gardening equipment and games, as well as home and kitchen accessories. In the evenings, it can be also booked for private parties, weddings and community events.
For brunch lovers, this destination venue offers a range of select dishes that are equally beautiful as they are delicious ranging from items such as Homemade Vegan Sourdough Waffles with baked apple, poached quince, homemade salted caramel, coconut cream and roasted almond flakes, to a 24-hour Beef Broth with sautéed kale, lime, chili, homemade sourdough bread, miso butter and fresh coriander. Not to mention a list of breakfast cocktails such as Mimosas and Bloody Marys!
For coffee connoisseurs, the Hallesches Haus team offer a variety of beans from multiple roasters in Berlin, including Field Coffee and Fjord Coffee Roasters, as well as Man vs Machine from Munich.
''Our favourite take on Field’s balanced Milky Way roast is served as a ‘Maple Latte’,'' says co-owner, Jillian May. ''This is a double shot and oat milk, with a hefty dose of maple syrup shipped in directly from upstate New York.''
If running a cafe, shop and events space wasn't enough, the team is embarking on new projects. In 2023, Hallesches Haus owners Oliver (from UK), Tom (from Germany) and Jillian (from the US) launched a new project called UFER Coloured Glassware, manufacturing high-quality blown glassware in a variety of fun colourways.
